Position: NetApp Storage Engineer Location: Mason, OH Duration: 4 Months Skills: NetApp SnapManager Rate: 45$/hr Position Description * The Storage Engineer provides expertise in the definition; adoption and adherence to enterprise architecture strategies, processes and standards relating to all storage environments. * Provide expertise and guidance in the design, development, and implementation of all storage related technologies. * Provides technology assistance related to storage infrastructure and direction to other teams, ensuring that all technology domains work effectively together. * Designs, implements, and manages the life-cycle of the storage architecture for large internal and external initiatives. Responsibilities * Demonstrated application of Enterprise / Departmental, Centralized / Distributed storage architecture strategies, standards, processes, and tools. * Design and Implementation of a storage architectures that is highly virtualized that meets customers (internal / external) requirements and are consistent with enterprise architectural standards * Supports the development of strategy, frameworks, and best practices for storage. * Ensures compliance with all storage architecture directions and standards through cross organization consulting and direct involvement in development efforts. * Acts as a thought leader and arbiter of decisions in their specific areas of expertise. * Works with constituents and the Enterprise Architecture (EA) team to gain consensus and establish storage standards, policies and directions. * Support the definition and selection of enterprise tools, technologies and processes relating to the storage environment that is highly virtualized. * Review and approve all storage architectural standards and processes * Ensure representation from the all stakeholders in the design of storage based solutions in a highly virtualized environment leveraging VMWare. * Act as an expert in the design, development, implementation, and management of storage solutions leveraging VMWare. * Facilitator and moderator of future collaborative work team content related to storage architecture including virtualization, application pattern work teams, domain specific content or governance content. * Ensure that all storage components have a standardized approach to monitoring and management. Required Education/Experience * BS degree in Computer Science or related discipline * 7-10 years of overall IT experience * Minimum of 5-7 years implementing Enterprise / Department, Centralized / Distributed storage infrastructure experience * Minimum of 3-5 years implementing blade based solutions * Minimum of 3-5 years implementing complex solutions in a highly virtualized environment, leveraging VMWare * Minimum of 5-10 years implementing large scale, complex infrastructure solutions * Minimum of 7 years designing complex, Windows server based solutions * Minimum of 2-5 years implementing complex network based solutions in a highly virtualized environment, Fujitsu, Fujitsu Siemens, VMWare, NetApp and HP storage, and Cisco. * In-depth knowledge of infrastructure components, and virtualization technologies Required Skills * Technical Acumen - Strong domain knowledge in application design and development, working knowledge of current IT and systems technologies and standards focused on storage solutions. * Business Acumen - Ability to command the respect of not only information technology peers, but also business management. Strong understanding of business requirements and processes as they relate to enterprise architecture and the implementation of storage solutions. * General Management/Leadership - Recognized as a leader able to inspire others through conviction, vision, and the ability to formulate and articulate direction in the area of storage architecture and solutions. * Ability to forge single-purpose commitment from others with disparate objectives * Interpersonal Relations - Sells approaches through the power of ideas rather than mandates. Desired Skills * Strong working knowledge of J2EE or .NET technologies and there impacts in a highly virtualized technology infrastructure based on the Windows server platform. * Understanding of EA tools * Strong, working verbal and written business and technical communication skills * Solid understanding of Architecture and Operations in a highly virtualized environment leveraging a mixed environment of blades, rack-mounts, and disparate storage infrastructures based on Windows Server and VMWare. * Advanced understanding of Data Center architecture and Operations in a highly virtualized environment leveraging a mixed environment of blades, rack-mounts, and disparate storage infrastructures based on Windows Server and VMWare. Additional Information * Experience with Network Appliance snap manager and replication technologies required.
