Location: Riverside, Orange County
Duration: 6 Months
Develop a Migration Plan with detailed technical designs specifications for
Active Directory, Windows 2008 server-based File & Print services, and
Exchange 2007.
The platform migration is an infrastructure upgrade that includes a SAN
deployment, server replacements and server virtualization via VMware ESX
server products.
The ideal candidate(s) should be strong in project management and familiar
with Microsoft's Operations Framework and Solutions Framework, and server
platform migrations to Windows based servers.
· two years experience administering Microsoft Windows 2003 and/or
2008 server systems,
· server platform migration experience (preferably as a project
manager for a project of equal or greater size and complexity),
· familiarity with SAN implementations, and
· familiarity with VMware.
The scope of the overall platform migration plan includes infrastructure
upgrades (deployment of a SAN and several VMware ESX Servers), and migration
to Microsoft Windows 2008 Active Directory, migration to Microsoft Windows
2008 based file and print services, and email migration from GroupWise to
Microsoft Exchange 2007. However, requested services will only include the
project work which can be completed by the end of this Fiscal Year 08/09
(June 30, 2009)
The project will be advanced through the following:
· Replacing all Novell Netware servers at company's satellite
offices with a VMware platform capable of supporting both Novell and
Microsoft servers during the transition.
· Developing the exact steps to migrate user authentication services
from Novell eDirectory to Microsoft Active Directory. As currently
envisioned, this will require a tested methodology that includes custom
scripts (or third-party tools) and in-house procedures.
· Developing and testing a methodology to migrate end user desktops
to Active Directory compatible clients from Novell legacy clients
· Developing and testing procedures, including the use of scripts or
third-party tools, to migrate end users files (and shares) from Novell to
Microsoft based file servers
· Developing and testing procedures to migrate print server
functionality from Novell to Microsoft servers.
· Developing and testing the desktop migration procedures and
protocols, and education/training material for the end users.
· Installing, testing and utilizing a new SAN in support of the
central office VMware environment and for key Windows servers(cluster
services, SQL Server and file server)
