MicroStrategy Developer
Location: PA
We are seeking a Business Intelligence professional with report
development/data analysis background to join our Data Warehouse team.
You will be an integral part of the report development team,
responsible for performing requirements analysis, design, development,
testing, documentation, and deployment of production reports.
Our environment includes MicroStrategy 8.1, Teradata, SQLServer
Responsibilities include:
Assess Business Requirement documents and translate them into
technical designs
Work with data warehouse technical lead to convey all data
needs for reporting, and participate in all ETL and physical model
design sessions and reviews
Design, build, and maintain logical model for MicroStrategy
reporting application
Design, build, and maintain all MicroStrategy schema objects
(attributes, facts, hierarchies)
Dashboard design and development desired
Perform code reviews and unit testing
Support user, system, performance, and regression testing
efforts
Partner with business partners and internal business analysts
for data requirements gathering and design
Provide level of effort estimates for new project work,
enhancements, fixes, etc.
Write technical design documentation
Working closely with ETL developers and DBA's to design and
implement shared architecture.
Working closely with business users to verify data
requirements and access needs and provide best-practice report
consulting, when needed
Maintaining standardized MicroStrategy design, development,
testing, and deployment task documentation.
Troubleshooting MicroStrategy application issues internally
and with vendor.
Estimating and measuring system impact (CPU, memory, disk,
network) of designs, before and after deployment.
Optimization and tuning of new and existing reports.
Conducting MicroStrategy training for both technical and
business users.
The ideal candidate will have:
2-5 years current experience working with a large scale data
warehouse environment for a Financial Services or Banking institution
is required.
2-5 years in SQL writing on Teradata for purposes of reporting
and analytics is required.
Working knowledge of MicroStrategy suite of products
Previous experience working with marketing and campaign
related data is preferred
Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication
skills, including the ability to communicate with customers,
management, and technical staff.
Experience working in a structured, multi-person development
environment.
Familiarity with Unix a plus.
BS/MS in a technical discipline.
Good working knowledge of and experience with logical and
physical database design principles and procedures.
