Job Title: Data Analyst
Location: Charlotte, NC
Length: 3+ months
Job Purpose/ Description:
Looking for a Business/Data Analyst with the ability to profile existing
data as well as profile data changes based on new business processes. The
analyst will serve on the Functional Team that interfaces between the
Business and the Application Development (AD) teams to support migration of
a legacy data warehouse to new technology. The analyst will be responsible
for understanding the current/future state design of data from the
Relationship Management data warehouse. This position is related to the
overall effort to migrate internal data warehouses and data marts to an
enterprise data warehouse.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
. Develops source-to-target documents while indicating, sources,
transformation, cleansing rules, and metadata for loading into the data
warehouse, data marts, and operational data stores.
. Communicate effectively with business and technical users in both
an oral and written manner. Able to troubleshoot technology and business
problems. Provide insight based on previous experience. work well
independently and in a team environment
. Writes for analytic applications to allow business users to access
and analyze data in a data warehouse or mart
. Develop and execute test and implementation plans
. Develop and execute project plans, as well as coordinating
technical IT groups
. Multi Terabyte data warehousing experience. Understanding the
design considerations for star schemas and its relationships. Understanding
the concept of data rollups/aggregation, capacity planning, data
standardization, slowly changing dimensions, and data security.
. Basic understanding of ETL tools Informatica or DataStage. Ability
to communicate design considerations using these tools and possible
limitations
. Basic knowledge of SQL and relational designs
. BIG PLUS:
. Knowledge of UNIX environment.
. Data warehousing knowledge: Key generation, WIDS, Slowly changing
dimensions, basic table sources.
. Knowledge in the financial services arena focusing on Annuity
Products, Mutual Funds, Brokerage, etc
Required education/experience:
. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Work Equivalent
. 3-5 years experience in Information Systems related to Data
Warehousing and Business Intelligence Systems.
. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
. Strong analytical skills
