The Programmer / Analyst roles work as part of a team responsible for new
application development and/or improving existing applications to meet the
changing needs of our business. Specific assignments may include application
design and development, coding for enhancements and fixes, testing,
maintenance and support. Base level of programming competency is required
and may be specific to C++, JAVA, NOTES, .Net, C#, Powerbuilder, Smalltalk,
or other as identified by the actual open position.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
• General knowledge of the securities industry and CGC specific businesses.
• Thorough knowledge of CGC specific businesses and business processes.
• Advanced knowledge of programming language(s), software development tools
and environment(s)and systems analysis and functional design.
• General knowledge of database design and database concepts.
• Advanced knowledge of application design principles, practices, system
development methodologies and software life cycles.
• Thorough knowledge of project/task estimation and planning.
• Thorough knowledge of software change control procedures.
• General knowledge of documentation and training.
• Demonstrated ability to participate in all phases of application software
development.
• Demonstrated ability to lead some phases of application software
development.

translate them in a logical and practical set of software components.

• Provides leadership in determining scope and participates in recommending

• Leads on-going evaluation of system functions and design and identifies
areas for improvement.
• Provides on-call coverage to application programs as needed to support
business operations.
• Prepares and distributes status reports and other updates to users and
management.
• Communicates actively with users on systems status, including system
changes, problems, enhancements, and potential impacts.
• Participates actively in all, and in some cases leads certain, aspects of
project management and control.
• Coordinates some user meetings:
- Schedules meetings
- Participates in, and sometimes leads, meeting discussions
- Assists team members in preparing for meetings
- Summarizes and communicates outcomes to users and management.
• Coordinates some team meetings:
- Schedules meetings
- Leads discussion and resolution of issues.
