We currently have an Enterprise Data warehouse in a SQL Server 2008 environment in a Microsoft Fast Track architecture. This individual will be responsible for design and implementation of development, test and production databases. The scope of this responsibility includes performance monitoring, tuning, partition maintaining, development of stored procedures and TSQL. The SQL DBA will participate in the maintenance of production SQL Server databases, and work with development on proper access, security, and rights. This individual should have a Microsoft database programming concentration in T-SQL and in the MSFT Business Intelligence Suite. *Duties and Responsibilities:* Development o Act as the technical expert on all aspects of the database during development and after deployment of product releases. o Extensive stored procedure and script development o Physical design and implementation OLTP and Data Warehouse databases. o Estimation and Capacity Planning for database growth o Deploy and support database components in all DB environments which include DEV, Staging, QA and PROD. o Provide technical guidance to system and application programmers o SSIS development experience and understanding of basic ETL concepts o Creating/tuning/optimizing indexes, stored procedures, DTS/SSIS packages and SQL jobs o Creating and optimizing SSRS reports using SQL 2008 o Delivery of high performance, scalable code o Delivery of products on time in a fast-paced environment o Develop scripts to automate routine and repetitive database administration tasks. o Implement logical and physical data models at the project level. o Coordinating DDL changes; QA support; and the production implementation of all DB changes. * Maintenance* o Manage security (access control, permissions) for databases and ensure data integrity using templates and schemas. o The SQL DBA will ensure proper maintenance on database sizes and partitioning maintenance o Plan, design and create SQL Jobs for optimization, backups, maintenance and set up appropriate alerts. o Plan activities for and participate in monthly maintenance windows. o Managing the database space and allocation planning. o Perform Database backup and restores. Create test restore plans. *Tuning* o Provide testing and performance tuning support. o Perform tuning SQL Server performance at both the database engine as well as the data model level o Troubleshoot database performance issues and tune sql objects. Set up traces and profiler to troubleshoot performance issues Diagnose issues on the server proactively. Support o Provide 24x7 support o Monitor all database environments. o Set up/Install/Configure SQL Server 2008 instances on standalone as well as clustered environments. o Troubleshoot SQL Server issues and resolve problems. o Monitor log files to proactively resolve issues o Assist with database/application migrations, disaster recovery scenarios, and server upgrades whenever feasible. o Set up, communicate and escalate alerts related to SQL environments and processes. o Perform SQL Server version upgrades and migrations. o Participate in the formulation of policies, procedures and standards relating to database management. *Job Requirements: * 5+ years of experience working in a high volume data warehouse (>2TB data warehouses) Experience maintaining high volume business critical systems MCSE/MCDBA highly desirable In depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Integration (SSIS), Analysis (SSAS) and Reporting (SSRS) Services Minimum of 2-3 years Transact SQL/Stored Procedure development experience. 5+ years knowledge of MS SQL 2000/2005/2008/2008R2 Database administration Minimum of 4-6 years managing a SQL Server database environment. Ability to work in a remote team environment Strong interpersonal skills in order to work well with a talented team of software developers Effective time management skills are a must Experience with clustered SQL Servers, SQL Server 2005, OLAP, and VLDB a plus. BS Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Software, Engineering, Business or other relevant combination of training and experience. Detailed knowledge of standards and business processes.
