Sr. VMWare Administrator Needed Location: McLean, VA Duration: 6 months Environment Optimization - Virtualize physical Linux and Windows Servers. · Environment Optimization : Virtualize physical Linux and Windows Servers. Provide · We are hiring for the position of VMware and Windows/Linux administrator. This person is responsible for maintaining the operational status of systems and work closely with other members of the information technology department within the company. · The IDEAL candidate will have experience in using VMWARE and/or PlateSpin technologies to convert servers from physical to virtual. · The duties of this position ranges across the spectrum of individual VMware and Windows systems to implement complex solutions around business need. The candidate will be required to work with minimum supervision to deliver projects and tasks related to these infrastructures. Candidate will maintain Windows and Linux-based platforms and services including Active Directory, Exchange and Lync. In this regards, duties such as scripting and light programming especially using PowerShell are required. · As a VMware administrator, candidate is responsible for configuration, design, maintenance, monitoring, and support of the overall VMware environments including Corporate and engineering clusters. Responsibility also includes managing Service level Agreements, documentation and Policy and procedure compliance for IS systems related to Virtualized and Windows environment. Being familiar with Backup solutions especially TSM will also be considered as a plus. Candidate must have strong analysis and decision-making skills with the ability to conduct briefings, participate in technical cross-functional meetings, strong commitment to process and understanding of change and configuration management principles. Candidate must be willing to provide 24/7pager coverage. *Responsibilities:* · 7-10 years experience is required · PlateSpin conversions of P2V (Physical to Virtual ) Windows/Linux · Implementing and supporting Windows server operating systems (2000, 2003, 2008) and Linux (Suse/RedHat) · VMware ESX/VMWare vSphere in a distributed system environment (Windows Linux). · Manage VMware infrastructure including Performance tuning, capacity planning, managing clusters of ESX servers and policy creation. · Scripting (PowerShell, WMI, VB, PERL, etc.) · SAN/NAS (preferably ESX/NetApp) Experience in capacity planning/m · Supporting Citrix (Access Gateway, Web Interface, XenApp 4.5, 5.0, 6.x) · Performance monitoring and management in a distributed system environment. · Configuration management in a distributed system environment. · Enterprise Backup technologies (e.g. TSM) · Patch Management (e.g. WSUS). · Anti-Virus technologies e.g. McAfee, ForeFront Active Directory in a distributed system environment.Resolve escalated issues from Service desk *Skills:* · General skills 7-10 years experience is required · Strong conceptual and analytical skills · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Strong knowledge of distributed computing environments, operating systems, hardware platforms, networking, storage area networks and subsystems. · Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities · Ability to broker solutions among diverse teams. · Possess high-levels of accountability and drive, is innovative, solutions oriented and must be able to apply a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of technical concepts, practices and procedures Demonstrate leadership, flexibility, teamwork, planning, quality, high attention to details, and process improvement skills. · A team player with strong interpersonal skills and both oral and written communications skills.
