Working with limited supervision, the individual will apply approved development processes and tools to repeatedly produce a quality software product. The position requires strong aptitude for problem solving, understanding complex business requirements and meeting those requirements with technical solutions. This position requires sufficient experience so the individual can work on independent tasks as assigned and take initiative to solve problems in the context of established software development methods. · Individual must have an aptitude for visualizing, designing and developing software systems based on user requirements. · Have an understanding of software development methodology, tools and techniques. · Experience with agile methodologies required. · Have expertise and experience (5+) in relevant development tools, specifically *Java, Javascript, XML, CSS, SQL, HTML 5 and Spring Framework, Tomcat, Jquery*, Windows are required. · Knowledge of *UNIX and/or LINUX* is helpful. · *C/C++* skills are helpful. · Experience using *SQL* databases is helpful. · Nice to have skills include *Hadoop / MapReduce, R, OLAP, Pentaho BI Stack, Talend / Kettle, NoSQL Database (Hbase, Cassandra, etc), Machine Learning Algorithms (Kmeans, FPGrowth, etc).* · Experience with cloud/web-based applications and environments is required. · Exposure to a broad range of analytics, visualization and ETL software, tools, platforms and techniques (extract/transform/load) technologies is helpful. · Possess the ability to quickly understand complex business processes and work in a distributed global team environment to develop solutions to meet business needs. · Possess the interest and ability to learn new technologies and take direction from more experienced staff members. · Have excellent communication skills for team interaction and to document and present technical issues in a straightforward and understandable way. · Have experience with formal software development process, commercial software/web site development and large-scale teams is a definite plus for this position.
