If yes, please send me a copy of your latest resume and contact details *Position Title: Senior Database Administrator* *Position Type: Contract (6 Months +)* *Location: Jersey City, NJ* *Job Description:* - Available 24x7; - Strong SQL and Oracle RDBMS skills - Linux, HP-UX background a plus - Strong scripting skills – Powershell and Perl preferred - Strong process orientation - Good writing and communication capability - Ability to drive problems through to complete resolution, familiar with vendor escalation protocols - Problem solving focus (as a function of the Problem Management Service). - Responsible for root cause analysis and resolution by taking on the pivotal role of communicating and coordinating between various application and engineering teams. Accountable to manage problems in accordance with defined SLA’s; - Must have skill sets common to engineering groups including network equipment, server, OS, database, middleware, and storage infrastructure; - 2nd Level Support – must be able to perform 2nd level problem resolution - that is, troubleshoot problems and repair them or validate that the problem lies outside the specifications designed by the associated engineering or applications group; - Escalation – must proactively escalate unresolved problems to the next level as needed and notify SDR’s of status, prognosis; must be able to take an element in and out of the production environment and be able to replace a production element with a back-up/redundant production element; - Software knowledge/experience: - MS SQL-Server 2008, 2012 - Oracle 11gR2, 12 - Weblogic *The following represent the responsibilities of the support engineer: * - Manage/drive all escalated Incident and Problem tickets through to resolution (root cause where possible); document all findings and solutions in knowledge-base articles. - Participate in the Production Acceptance Criteria process - Control the process of equipment exchange in and out of the production environment (password changes, un-racking, etc.) ; Responsible for checklist and checklist review process – notify pertinent groups of deficiencies in technical configurations and ensure they are resolved. - Be aware of all open critical tickets and the next course of action; - Be aware of all anticipated changes and outages - Immediately respond to all production environment alarms; - Note the times any scheduled changes/outages begin and end. Upon completion, verify the operational environment has not been negatively affected in any way; - Review all new change requests and recommend approval; - Notify PSE Manager when a ticket is in need of escalation to Level 3 support; - Review all tickets closed to determine if knowledge base procedures can be applied to resolve the problem at Level 1 support; - Provide training to SDR's and Operators on supporting production equipment at Level 1; - When ‘SWAT’ teams are deployed to resolve problems, serve as primary problem researchers, communicators and facilitators; - Ensure all appropriate report and checklist inputs are available; - Ensure all required documentation for supporting elements in the production environment is readily available; - Perform Level 2 problem resolution as per delineated procedures and in accordance with specified service levels.
