Position: *SQL Server Database Administrator* Duration: 6+months contract Location: New York, NY(locals) Interview: In person required Rate: $50.00/Hour Max *Responsibilities:* • Work on the installation, configuration, patching and upgrading of SQL Servers and SQL Server databases and jobs, and will manage the installation, configuration, patching and upgrading of SQL Server database servers. • Work closely with the other IT departments to configure server and storage components and support and perform database and job upgrades to newer SQL Server versions. • Review, coordinate and execute database object modification scripts and SQL Server jobs modifications provided by application developers in the Test and Production environments. • Troubleshoot performance issues and present technical options and risks to diagnose and solve issues within the SQL Server suite of technologies, including Database Engine and Integration Services. • Work with application developers and business users to manage the patching of SQL Servers and will assist in the planning and execution of the database and jobs upgrades across the Development, Test and Production environments. • Ability to research, evaluate and recommend technical solutions and have planning, research, time management, multi-tasking, problem resolution and decision make skills in a demanding situation supporting Production systems. • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively, with internal business and technical teams, vendors and consultants, and the ability to take directions and plan and execute independently or with minimal guidance. Skills/Experience • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in SQL Server database administration including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and support; in-depth understanding of SQL Server databases including versions SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008R2 and 2012. • Proficient in Windows Server 2008R2 and Windows Server 2012R2 system administration in the areas of share/file/folder permissions configuration and administration and FTP configuration and administration • Hands-on experience with SQL Server database upgrades and SQL Server Integration Services packages upgrades • SQL Server patching, SQL Server database backups and recovery • Hands-on experience with the configuration and administration of SQL Server high availability features including SQL Server Clustering and Database Mirroring • Good understanding of storage, network, server technology and operating systems for optimal application performance is required • Experience in supporting Development, Test and Production environments is required. • Good interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.
