*Role: Delivery Infrastructure Project Manager* *Location: San Jose, CA* *Delivery Project Manager Job Description: (Level 50)* The Delivery Project Manager works under general direction of the CBC IT IS PMO Practice Director and is responsible for the coordination and successful completion of Cognizant sold IT IS projects. This includes planning and oversight of all activities associated with the installation and implementation of Cognizant and third party software products and services according to the guidelines stated in the contract/Statement of Work. The Delivery Project Manager serves as the Cognizant IT IS control point during the implementation process and has direct responsibility for negotiating and coordinating resolution for all implementation issues at the Customer site. The Delivery Project Manager is responsible for a single project at any given time. *Job Duties and Responsibilities*: · Directs and supervises the implementation function for projects for multiple customers o Meets with Customer management to identify specific implementation goals and requirements (for example; project scope, resource requirements, implementation timeframes, etc.) o Estimates time and personnel requirements to complete implementation assignments by conferring with the Customer, Partner & Cognizant resources, and by researching and analyzing prior project plans o Performs implementation activities and tasks in accordance with the Cognizant Standard Implementation Methodology o Creates the management project plan that Cognizant and the Customer use to monitor the project status throughout the implementation process o Reviews and approves project plans for the different solution applications (for example; Exchange migrations, application packaging, DR/Security Assessments, Virtualizations, Systems Integrations, Desktop refreshes, Data Center relocations, etc.) o Provides guidance to the Customer by establishing procedures and setting objectives for each phase of the implementation process o Establishes a process for tracking issues, hours, budget, and status reporting o Monitors projects to ensure deadlines are being met and to help resolve issues that might impact these deadlines o Communicates project status to Cognizant management and other Cognizant departments as appropriate (for example; Account Manager, Training, Customer Support) o Communicates project status to the Customer’s project and executive management o Prepares weekly and monthly status reports to keep management informed of the progress of all implementation projects o Helps to resolve technical or personnel problems as they occur by collecting documentation, interviewing involved parties, researching activities and formulating solutions o Helps to resolve operational problems and systems failures by directing and/or performing systems audits, analyzing problems and developing clear and concise methods for resolution o Works closely with the Account Manager to identify additional Cognizant products and services, which may help the Customer to meet their implementation as well as business goals/objectives o Ensures that the implementation meets all contractual requirements, is completed on time, and within budget o Identifies potential risks and delays in the implementation and documents recommended solutions o Builds strong, positive relationship with the customer o Develops and maintains an understanding of the customer’s business metrics · Performs financial management, administration, and planning tasks that relate to Customer implementation projects o Monitors and sets objectives and procedures for implementation team to monitor project expenditures o Identifies variations from forecasted figures and takes appropriate corrective action o Prepares reports for management summarizing performance in relation to contractual deliverables o Identifies additional revenue generators or opportunities o Performs long and short term planning activities for the project including resource levels, equipment needs, etc. o Reviews and approves miscellaneous implementation project team member expenses and project invoices (for example; entertainment meals, travel fees, miscellaneous charges) o Reviews and provides input into implementation documentation · Manages the activities of implementation project team o Evaluates the performance of implementation project team assigned to his/her projects and provides input to their manager o Provides input to the manager of the implementation project team to develop career paths based on department goals and employee objectives · Confers with Customer management to determine implementation needs and resolve problem situations o Conducts Customer meetings to establish project requirements and design project plans o Keeps Customer informed of progress through verbal reports, status meetings, and written reports o Meets with Customer personnel to discuss problems or issues impairing the completion of scheduled projects and formulates strategy for correcting the situation o Conducts post-project meetings to present final product and ensure Customer expectations and objectives have been met o Provides technical guidance or implements training activities for Customers to strengthen their knowledge or technical skill levels o Identifies new business opportunities · Plans and implements self-improvement activities to meet current and future needs o Researches and tracks new technology through reading trade journals and publications, attending trade shows and technical seminars, and consulting with other healthcare, Project Managers, data processing professionals o Monitors changes in industry related/data processing trends, technology and regulatory changes o Performs other duties as assigned *KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES** • Knowledge of project management methods and techniques • Knowledge of the Cognizant standard implementation methodology for the applicable software/hardware products • Knowledge of telecommunications, network industry principles and practices • Knowledge of applications or operating system involved • Knowledge of various industries and industry trends • Knowledge of Customer’s general business needs • Knowledge of system design methods and techniques • Ability to sequence and monitor multiple activities for self and others • Ability to analyze Customer’s business needs and determine implementation project requirements • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities, and problem areas • Ability to make presentations to Customer or Management • Ability to anticipate problems and initiate corrective action • Ability to persuade Customer to accept best solutions to identified problems or deficiencies • Ability to forecast and monitor project budget • Ability to evaluate the performance capabilities of subordinates • Ability to work with all levels of Customer management to ensure proper communication of Cognizant project status and to identify and escalate issues as appropriate • Ability to coach or counsel implementation project team members for development or corrective discipline *These general KSAs represent entry level requirements for the job. Job functions for individual positions can vary, and more specific or additional KSAs may be required. *Job Entry Requirements: * Minimum of an Undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate/Master’s degree a plus. PMP certified preferred. Five (5) years minimum in Infrastructure PM implementation experience in related field. At least five (5) years delivering technical infrastructure solutions as an engineer and/or architect. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal).
