*Description of Project and team:*
This is for the "Summary of Business project."
· We just received funding for the second phase of a web-based
reporting application. Summary of Business is currently a .NET application
that uses stored procedures to access aggregated data for limited ad-hoc
query type analysis of the Risk Management Agency's book of business.
· This next phase has several functional requirements, including
the inclusion of additional aggregation dimensions and the need for
historical analysis.
· The initial work will be data-intensive and require the
identification of the source data from our policy databases.
· Technically the project is planning to migrate from a tabular
relational data to an SSAS multi-dimensional model. As mentioned, the
current application is built on .NET 4.5, MVC.
· There will be some enhancements to this user interface as well as
the introduction of business intelligence OLAP, most likely using MS SSAS
and power pivot, to satisfy the ad-hoc analytical component and the ability
to generate dashboard visualizations.
*There is a team of 4 members:*
Database Specialist Senior with SSIS, SSAS, and MDX query experience
· QA Specialist Senior
· Application Developer Senior with data visualization experience
using BI tools, (MS Power Pivot)
· Application Developer Journeyman with MVC .Net experience
*Experience/Skills Required:*

· Senior Application Developer with 10+ years of IT experience, and
with data visualization experience using BI tools, preferably MS Power Pivot
· Would like to see resume use words like
'visualizations','dashboards', 'analytics' over its use of 'report' as a
differentiator of the type of solution we're looking to deliver.
· Would like to see resume mention words like: powerquery,
powerpivot and powerview. We need a Visualization whiz!
· Also, the architectural direction for the cube is to use tabular
cubing (new-ish to sql Server) versus multi-dimensional.
· May be more of a challenge to find experience with this type of
query writing but can you give it a shot?
*This is some additional information -*
· Broadly they are looking for a person much stronger in
visualization than in power pivot, AND with SSRS skills that can develop
prototype reports from tabular reports quickly.
· It's understanding multi-dimensional reporting well enough to
translate flat tabular reports into meaningful reports such as trend
analysis, pivot graphs, etc., basically selecting the right kind of
multi-dimensional report to best represent the data.
