You can also call me @ 609-897-9670*4004. * Role :* IBM i-series/AS400 Admin *Location :* Phoenix, AZ *JD :* IBM I Administrator with at least 5+ years experience, preferably more, administering IBM i running on Power Systems servers. He or she is familiar with all aspects of system administration, including upgrades from previous releases, backup and recovery, storage management, using journaling, understands the differences between different types of ASPs and their uses, and has strong HMC skills. Recommended Prerequisite Skills At least one major system hardware upgrade (for example POWER6 to POWER7) At least one major operating system upgrade (for example, IBM i 5.4 or 6.1 to 7.1) At least one full system restore (site-down / crash) Strong experience in managing partitioned systems Strong experience in using journaling, especially remote journaling Understands the differences between independent ASPs, *SYSBAS, and traditional ASPs Understands the functional differences between logical replication and clustering Keeps up with Technology Refreshes, and has an awareness with new features and functions Strong experience managing IBM i with SAN-attached storage Working knowledge of the HMC 3-4 years experience administering Power Systems environments running IBM i Good skills with HMC, VIO Server, IVM Strong experience designing virtualized systems, including IBM i hosting other operating systems [such as AIX and Linux] in addition to hosting IBM i Understanding of SAN concepts Strong knowledge of the Power Systems family of servers, relevant I/O features, and external storage appropriate to the situation Strong networking skills, relative to IBM i hosting IBM i partitions and virtual networking used in VIO server to client partitions. Know how to plan for, implement, and manage the ongoing operations of an IBM i. Emphasis is on security, system availability, backup and recovery, system software management, and problem determination.
