This position will act a part of a companywide team of engineers with a primary focus on the Richmond and Southwest Virginia areas. *Qualities* A large part of this job will be to support the sales process. This engineer serves as a technology adviser to both prospective customers and representatives of current client accounts. The engineer must display a strong commitment to developing and maintaining long-term customer relationships. The ability to understand customer requirements, determine the best solutions and effectively communicate the value proposition of those solutions are critical skills. *Requirements * · The engineer will be a subject matter expert with specialized technology experience in networking solutions · The engineer will have multi vendor experience across the networking technology stack, this includes but is not limited to route, switch, firewall, load balancing, IDS, IPS, wireless and access control · The engineer will respond to customer requests for proposals, develop designs and bills of materials for cost-effective solutions, and either implement the solution themselves or provide shoulder-to-shoulder knowledge transfer/training to implementation teams bringing the technology solutions online. · The engineer will keep apprised of updates to existing technologies as well as new technologies in the networking and security space · Be able to articulate technical differences between competing technologies and how they will apply to customer’s requirements. · Be able to interpret client issues and or requirements and develop solutions that meet or exceed those requirements · The engineer should be organized and display excellent time management skills. · Because this is a customer-facing role, the engineer must also be an effective communicator from both verbal and written standpoints, as well as through active listening. · This engineer is expected to reach customer personnel at all working levels, from technicians to senior management staff members. · Strong presentation skills are a must.
