DATABASE ADMIN IV Working without appreciable direction, plans and administers database/ application strategies, processes, and tools . Contributes to ever- evolving concepts, techniques and standards. Ensures that in-house database contents are correct and complete. Ensures all software and associated hardware are functioning properly; when not, either fixes or arranges for supplier to fix. Serves as expert consultant to management and special external spokesperson regarding not, either fixes or arranges for supplier to fix. Serves as expert consultant to management and special external spokesperson regarding Handles concurrent, on-demand derivative and unique tasks in the arena in a multitasking environment. Develops solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation, consistent with organizational objectives. Interfaces with and exchanges data with staff in Information Technology, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Program Management, and Support Departments and with other General Atomics entities. Participates in building relationships with customers. Integrates learning from customers, competitors, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve competitive position. Reviews existing software modules and associated hardware (servers, workstations, verifiers, scanners, printers) for adequacy and scopes/specifies additions to satisfy shortfalls. Performs assigned tasks within budgets and schedules, and contributes to continuous improvement of processes. Documents findings and recommendations, and communicates results orally and in writing to technical staff and management. May lead a team of moderately experienced professional employees on assigned aspects of project(s). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Typically requires a Bachelor degree and nine to thirteen (or Master degree and 8 or more years) of progressively complex experience in a database/application environment. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education. Grounded understanding of concepts, principles, and theory is required. Experience demonstrating application of same is a plus. Must possess the ability to organize, schedule and coordinate work phases, and determine the appropriate approach to provide solutions to a range of complex issues. Must have strong technical/business writing and presenting skills. Possesses interpersonal skills and self-discipline to accomplish work both independently and as part of a team. Must have solid usage skills of full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project).
