database administration DBA The DBA will work on performance tuning, administration, backups, scripting and processing data, data warehousing, and lead redundancy, replication and availability strategies. The DBA works collaboratively with other members of the IT team and engineering to implement DB availability options to address 4 nines SLA . Responsibilities * Design, implement, manage and monitor PostgresSQL databases in a 24x7x365 customer facing environment * Assume all database backup and recovery, sizing, security, replication, database optimization, schema creation and maintenance, as well as SQL tuning and code optimization * Work with business development to create, optimize and monitor data warehouse applications * Responsible for maintaining all development, QA and User Acceptance database environments * Establish policies and procedures pertaining to the database management, security, maintenance and utilization * Proactively perform database maintenance, reorganizations, resource management, schema management, and capacity planning * Work with engineering to tune database and application functionality * Implement and maintain disaster recovery plans for critical production databases and applications * Resolve complex database problems through research, analysis and expertise Qualifications * B.S. degree in computer science * 5+ years of database administration, performance tuning in a 24x7x365 customer facing production environment with increasingly complex DBA assignments * PostgreSQL experience or a willingness to learn * Proven database administration and performance tuning skills * Strong knowledge of data modeling, triggers, stored procedures * Demonstrated understanding of database scoping, profiling, scaling and fault tolerant operation * Experienced with disciplined DBA methodologies including development and operational considerations * Ability to provide support for development, test, and production environments, including setup of new servers, databases, and objects within the database * Strong Linux and Open Source knowledge and experience essential * Experience in software development using Perl, Shell, or other scripting languages * Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with customers and staff in a multi-cultural environment * Excellent interpersonal skills * Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English http://dba.fyicenter.com/jobs/99898738_database_administration_DBA_.html Thank you, DBA FYI Center http://dba.fyicenter.com/ --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "oracleguru" group.
