Here is the job description: *Job Title: Java/Websphere Portal Lead* Location: Boston, MA Length: This is a 6 month contract to hire * * *GC or EAD or Citizen Required* * * *Job Summary:* This position is responsible for supervising a team of application developers building and maintaining software applications; this work may include development of new applications or maintenance and enhancement of existing applications. The position involves being directly involved with the technical aspects of application development and providing strong technical assistance, training and direction to staff. *Principal Accountabilities:* Supervise and direct a team of application developers on a variety of project and assignments. Perform supervisory project management activities. Gather and analyze business requirements, prepare technical alternatives and make high level design recommendations. Design, develop and implement technical solutions for applications and/or interfaces, which may involve a number of different platforms. Apply concepts and adhere to project management and software development standard methodologies throughout the development lifecycle. Coordinate, formulate and/or execute various testing activities, such as unit, functional, systems integration, performance and penetration testing. Investigate, debug, and resolve a wide variety of problems that occur with software applications. Assist in or lead project management activities and provide technical direction and coordinate the project activities of other staff. Provide on-going technical support to application users and potential customers. Create and maintain application technical documentation. Provide 24 hour on-call technical support for applications in rotation with other members of the department, as needed. Other Accountabilities: Perform other duties as assigned. *Supervision:* This position directly supervises 3 to 5 employees. Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge and experience normally acquired through, or equivalent to, the completion of a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of job related experience. Experience in one or more of the following technologies; Java/J2EE, Lotus Notes, SQL Server, writing database interfaces, ColdFusion, Websphere application server, portal technology, Rational Application Developer, ClearCase.
