SQL DBA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Assist in installation, upgrades and patch management for database environments. • Day to day operation and maintenance of all Enterprise Database platforms. • Maintain the rolling deployment of database code to various Development, QA, and Production environments. • Manage source control of databases after they have been built by developers; handle database code migration to different environments. • Perform database optimization and tuning; ongoing capacity planning. • Migrate databases between servers. • Perform root-cause-analysis of database failures; implement quick fixes as well as long-term solutions; handle database backups and recoveries; maintain overall data integrity. • Provide pre-implementation feedback on database design for specific projects. • Provide support for applications and developers that require database access. • Help monitor transaction log shipping to various disaster recovery and reporting servers. • Assist in the research and resolution of technical issues raised by the development staff and/or end users. • Assist QA in testing database related code. • Research and implement best practices, methods and standards for database management; develop process documentation. • Insure that proper backup procedures are accomplished to insure data recoverability. • Help design data warehouse. Requirements REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: • At least 8 years of database experience is required, of which at least 5 years were in database administration in a Microsoft SQL Server environment. • Excellent knowledge of SQL scripting is required. • Excellent knowledge of SQL Server 2005 is required; knowledge of SQL Server 2008 is highly desirable. This should include: Replication, Log Shipping, Analysis Services, SSIS and Reporting Services. • Excellent knowledge of database security management, code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the product development life cycle. • Experience with helping to build or maintain data warehouses is highly desirable. • Knowledge of Crystal reporting is highly desirable: • Must be ready to work in a fast-paced environment in which everyone takes ownership of the end-to-end solution; experience with Scrum or Agile Development/ XP is a plus. • Must be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner possessing both good written and verbal skills. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATION: • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems is desirable and/or applicable certifications.
