SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS This is a hybrid position where the candidate needs to have very good Linux administration skills along with strong WebSphere administration skills. Mandatory Requirements: 1. Strong experience and in-depth knowledge of installing, administering and maintaining SuSe or RedHat Linux servers. 2. Five years experience in a Web based environment, IBM Websphere 3. Install and administer various server applications such as application servers (WAS), portal (IBM Portal) and ID Management (TIM) 4. Experience in deploying web based application in a clustering environment 5. Experience with installing open source software on linux systems, such as apache, heartbeat. 6. Experience in monitoring the performance of the server based hardware and software. Ability to generate reports and troubleshoot system performance 7. Create and follow through on change control for any modifications to the agency’s software or hardware infrastructure 8. Familiarity with HP servers. Ability to install Linux OS and updating all the firmware needed to bring the server up to spec. Ability to automate patching of Linux servers. 9. Ability to research open source technologies 10. Excellent interpersonal relations, communications and people skills Desirable Experience: 1. Experience in a corporate IT environment 2. Experience in a customer-facing corporate environment 3. Understand and experience in disaster recovery, backup and restore processes Description: NYC DOC seeks a highly skilled systems administration specialist skilled in Linux (SuSE or RedHat, IBM WebSphere, IBM Portal to assist in the support and maintenance of existing departmental systems. 24 x 7 Monitoring of system infrastructure and creating reports when failure occurs.
