Position: Unix/AIX Administrator Location:King of Prussia, PA Duration:6+Months Description: The key to the position is that they MUST have experience with: AIX virtualization skills Red Hat Linux Current IBM pSeries experience (6/7) Solid system admin trouble shooting/break/fix skills Position Summary The Systems Administrator will be primarily responsible for the installation, administrating and maintenance of hardware and operating systems on IBM pSeries servers (AIX) and Intel servers (Red Hat Linux). This includes providing excellent technical support, troubleshooting and tuning for system issues. This also includes working with other team members to understand and assisting with troubleshooting 3rd party applications running on the AIX and Red Hat systems. The ability and willingness to learn and manage 3rd party applications running on UNIX and Linux operating system a must. Duties and Functions Installation, management and support of IBM pSeries, Intel hardware, and VMware ESX technologies Implement and manage virtualization on IBM pSeries servers running PowerVM and Intel servers running VMWare. Perform operating system performance tuning and system capacity planning Perform firmware and operating system patching Perform UNIX and Red Hat Linux operating system upgrades and package installations Provide assistance in supporting 3rd party applications Manage SAN environment Participate in the on call rotation for 24x7 production suppor Key Personal and Behavioral Attributes Team Player Solid Work Ethic Innovative Multi-tasking abilities Learning-centric Excellent listening skills High Technical Aptitude Minimum Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred 3-5 years working experience in IBM pSeries and AIX administration 3-5 years working experience in Red Hat Linux administration 1-3 years working experience in VMware system administration 2-5 years working experience in SAN administration High-level proficiency with IBM’s PowerVM LPAR virtualization Solid understanding of networking protocols and networking connectivity Experience in shell scripting Desired working experience with LDAP, Apache Web Servers, and Computer Associates SiteMinder Ability to execute tactically while understanding strategic impacts Must be a self-starter who works well in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment Proven ability to efficiently manage and implement quick-turnaround, tactical projects Thanks for your time!
