*Job Description* - role is through their current contract end date of June 2012. all indications are that the contract will be extended and if this happens this role would be extended for another year into 2013. The Lead Java Developer/Designer will be responsible for execution of the more complex functional and technical requirements into application code, primarily using Java, JSP and SQL. The Lead Java Developer/Designer will need to be able to both lead technical design sessions with the client as well as deliver code and will be seen as the "go-to" developer. This role will be responsible for completing/reviewing functional and technical design documents, ensuring all Unit Tests are complete, application code readiness, conducting peer reviews and assisting with system test execution. The Lead Java Developer/Designer will need to understand when to escalate any scope creep or schedule issues to the Delivery Lead, and will need to understand the business, functional and technical requirements well enough to assess their feasibility (given the underlying architecture and release schedule). This role will be responsible for some estimation, resource loading/leveling, risk/issue management, scope management, and work-planning. *Required Skills* Quick learner/self-starter; ability to lead a team of developers to deliver according to functional and technical requirements; ability to interpret complex design requirements; Relational database, XML, Java, JSP and SQL; experience with SSH/Telnet. Experience with SVN version control system and maintaining Ant build scripts. *Optional Skills* Knowledge/use of application servers, Eclipse IDE, Hibernate, Unix (Solaris) shell scripting, CruiseControl build management tool; SCM experience highly desired.
