Business Analyst/Data analyst Contract 3 to 5 months San Diego, CA ASAP Rates : $35 hr Notes: This role will be a mix of Data Analysis (should be able to do SQL query to review data), Technical Writing and Business Analysis - candidates should be comfortable doing this type or work and or learning how to do this work. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Associate Business Analyst's role is to collect information from different sources, analyze and compare it, and use findings from these activities to establish requirements for a project or descriptions for a process. In addition, the Associate Business Analyst supports the client, account team, product managers, development manager and leads, and QA personnel as needed to ensure correct interpretation and utilization of requirements and process documentation. An Associate Business Analyst may also be known as a requirements analyst, systems analyst, analyst, or technical writer. RESPONSIBILITIES . Identify project stakeholders and user classes, document user class characteristics, identify appropriate representatives for each user class, and negotiate their responsibilities . Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists, business analysis, competitive product analysis, task and workflow analysis, and/or viewpoints . Write requirements and functional specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely . Decompose high level business and user requirements into functional requirements and quality requirements specified at an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those who must base their work on the requirements . Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements and process documentation . Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel . Observe developmental, experimental, and production activities to determine operating procedure and detail . Perform basic to intermediate SQL queries against product databases for analysis and support purposes . Generate paper-based and online training materials under the direction of the Business Analyst Manager for use in trianing new or existing personnel in various aspects of companies automotive CRM programs . Maintain and constantly improve an organized repository of software, system, process documentation, and training materials for all processes and products The above outlines the principal work and responsibilities in the job and does not specify each and every task that might be performed. Organizational skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information . Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders . Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) and an ability to communicate with internal and external customers and all levels of management, including communicating technical information to nontechnical audiences . Attention to detail and the ability to manage several projects at once . Oracle SQL skills, including the ability to quickly formulate ad hoc queries and reports EXPERIENCE . 3+ years experience as a business analyst, software engineer, technical writer, or any combination thereof . SQL experience preferred . Software engineering experience helpful . Training experience helpful . TFS experience helpful EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS . Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree (and/or 3 years of equivalent work experience or specialized training) in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering, Technical Writing, or a related discipline.
