Houston TX Description: Developer Job description This is a developer role within the Information Management Technical Solutions (IMTS) team, which is part of Projects & Technology (PT) CIO Delivery Vertical (DV). Emphasis is in the area of Information Management design and implementation, both logical and physical and an in-depth understanding to satisfy business needs. The function of the team is to: . Support business users in realizing their needs for managing information and data analysis. Customers vary from finance professionals to reservoir engineers, from geologists to health and safety specialists from all Shell businesses including Upstream, Downstream, Global Functions, Shell International, etc. . Deliver technical solutions in support of Information Management standards and best practices. . Adhere to the Group standards for .NET, SharePoint, Livelink, Spotfire, and other development and information management tools. Accountabilities: The developer role provides technical solutions for customers. The characteristics needed for this role are: . Communicates effectively (verbal and written). . Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree a strong plus. Engineering, Computer Science or MIS major. . Minimum 7 years experience as an IT developer with a minimum of 5 years experience in ASP.NET and web development. . Good working knowledge of the .NET 2.0 framework and higher along with a solid understanding of OOP principles and design patterns. . Extensive knowledge of database design and T-SQL, PL/SQL with at least 5 years experience with SQL Server 2005 and Oracle. . Experience with extracting and combining different data sources, different databases and data warehouses is a must. . Prefer 3 years experience designing and developing solutions in SharePoint (2007/2010). . Good understanding of Microsoft AJAX and third-party web UI tools such as Telerik, Infragistics, and DevExpress. . Solid experience with UI web design is also required. . Proven customer facing skills, is able to understand business issues quickly and translate these into requirements that will be used within web based solutions. . Domain knowledge and experience in oil and gas and economics is a plus. This includes ability to understand the technical language and concepts used within the industry. . Knowledge of BI tools.
