Job Title: Software Architect II

Location: Chicago, IL

Senior Software Architect responsible for full software life cycle with
focus on web application development (J2EE / IBM WebSphere) and distributed
processing in SOA (Web Services, JMS).



Responsibilities:

   - Provides design recommendations based on only-term IT organizational
   strategy.
   - Develops enterprise level application and custom integration solutions
   including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features.
   - Uses a variety of platforms to provide automated systems applications
   to customers.
   - Provides expertise regarding the integration of applications across
   the business.
   - Determines specifications, then plans, designs, and develops the most
   complex and business critical software solutions, utilizing appropriate
   software engineering processes, either individually or in concert with
   project team.
   - Develops programming and development standards and procedures as well
   as programming architectures for code reuse.
   - Has in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art programming languages and
   object-oriented approaches in designing, coding, testing and debugging
   programs.
   - Understands and consistently applies the attributes and processes of
   current application development methodologies. Researches and maintains
   knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the
   business.
   - Viewed both internally and externally as a technical expert and
   critical technical resource across multiple disciplines.
   - Acts as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent.

Requirements:

   - Expert in Java/J2EE in SOA. Designs, implements, tests and delivers
   web-enabled, distributed systems to customers. Assists in component
   architecture, performance engineering, product evaluation and support.
   - Translates business requirements into technical design.
   - Evaluates new frameworks and helps with technology selection. Develops
   code artifacts – modules, classes, methods, scripts, etc. – along with
   corresponding unit test artifacts.
   - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business
   Administration or equivalent work experience in similar work environment.
   - Minimum of 5 years of IT work experience focused in web development
   and server-side programming (SCJP certification is highly desired). Agile /
   SCRUM experience is preferred. Adobe Flex/BlazeDS experience is strongly
   desired.
   - Excellent oral and written communication skills
   - - Strong experience working with UML
   - - Solid experience in writing testable software (hands on with
   Continuous Integration)
   - - Strong problem solving and analytical skills
   - - Demonstrated experience working within a team environment
   (Agile/SCURM desired)
   - - Proven initiative, ability to work with minimal supervision and
   adhere to schedules
   - Ten years of experience is desired.
