*Position : Core Java Developer Location : Jersey City/Somerville, NJ Duration : 3-6 Months Interview : Phone then F2F * *Job Description* - The Application Developer position will be responsible for building and maintaining custom applications and integrations that interface with our company’s service management system based on Service-Now™. - Candidates need not have detailed knowledge of Service-Now, but will be required to learn the details once hired. *Responsibilities* - Develop software applications through all stages of the development life cycle, including coding, configuration, and application administration while assuring data security and functional effectiveness. - Develop following our standards, complete code reviews, testing and write unit tests. - Working with users to define and analyze requirements for application development, workflow creation, and create enterprise applications/workflows, which are user-friendly and functional. - Modifying and maintaining existing enterprise-level applications and integrations to support our business operations. - Monitors application functionality and utilization; researches security and access problems and recommends solutions; detects and corrects errors. - Assist users and provide technical guidance; monitors results, and assures that all service issues are addressed and resolved. *Qualifications* - 4+ years’ experience in programming on enterprise level systems and complex enterprise applications. - Must have 4+ years’ experience designing and writing scalable multi-threaded applications (without a container) in Core Java (v5+). This includes experience with strategies for resource locking and preventing thread-contention issues. - Solid experience with client-side web development - web pages and web components (from scratch) using HTML, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, AJAX. - Experience with server-side web development using languages or technologies such as PHP, JSP and Servlets, or CGI scripts. - Experience writing SQL (both DDL and DML aspects of SQL) for a RDMS such as Oracle or MySQL. - Experience with a scripting language such as Python (v2.7+) or Perl. - Strong understanding of the HTTP protocol, headers, methods, syntax and cookies. - Experience with data formats such as JSON and XML. - Experience writing code to consume ReSTful and SOAP-based web services. - Experience with developing on/against Service-Now a huge plus. - Understanding all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). - Familiarity with both Unix/Windows environments. - Strong analysis/problem solving experience to deal with complex business problems. - Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and manage priorities to meet critical deliverable dates. - High levels of initiative, strong capability of multitasking and ability to shift priorities. - Excellent communication and writing skills. - Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills. - Must be a detail oriented, analytical and an independent thinker. - Experience with formal change management processes and tools.
