*Position : Android Application Developer Location : Atlanta , GA Duration : 12+ Months Phone and Skype or F2F (local candidate highly desired)* *OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES* Our client is looking for an Android Application Developer with experience building applications for a global customer base and international markets. This is an opportunity to participate in both the ongoing development of the #1 application on all mobile devices as well as assist in technical design and architecture for upcoming new products. *SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES* - Work in a team-oriented, agile environment, and make an impact with variety of technical groups. - Advise on and implement requirements provided by the product team to create new or modify existing Android applications for multiple devices. - Be an internal development expert on all issues pertaining to Android internationalization and development for global products and market-specific features. - Provide accurate and timely estimates of the length of effort required to implement given requirements. *QUALIFICATIONS* *A. Knowledge:* - BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering - Prefer 5+ years programming experience in general - Prefer 3+ years experience specifically with Android applications - Prefer 3+ years experience with development of apps for international markets *B. Skills* *Required:* - Experience using object oriented programming techniques. - Experience using common programming languages, such as Java, C, C++, or C#, or Objective-C. - Experience and expertise in internationalization and localization of Android and web-based applications. - Exposure to web based programming including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, JSON, and angular.js. - Comfortable using standard Java IDEs and tools for software development. - Comfortable in using standard debugging techniques such as logging, GDB, and/or instruments to identify, locate, and correct software defects. - Understanding of the challenges related to mobile development including battery and radio usage, as well as CPU and memory constraints. - Understanding of common design patterns including Model-View-Controller. - Hands-on experience using Android devices (phone and tablet) in a development capacity. - Familiarity with Android Memory Management and optimization. - Ability to interact with and be effective in a collaborative and team-oriented setting, balanced with strong individual contributions to lead by example. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Highly creative with a commitment to quality. *Plusses:* - Exposure to television or digital video production and distribution. - Experience with integration of advertising and other technologies supporting monetization. - Understanding of or interest in Earth sciences/weather. *Questions the hiring manager would like answered when submitting candidates:* How many countries or languages have your apps been localized for? If so how was that handled? What’s the difference between double-byte character sets and UTF-8? *Android* When would you use the Java default locale from device settings vs. specifically declaring locale dependencies? What locales should those be applied to?
