*Job Title: Sr. Oracle DBA Duration: 6+ months Location: Clemson* *, SC* *Phone and Skype interview * *Keys to the role:* · It is vital that the candidate to have excellent communication skills in addition to their technical skills. · *Healthcare or Insurance industry exposure.* *Local candidates to South Carolina are ideal but we will entertain candidates from neighboring states: North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee.* *SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:* The Medicaid Management Information System project is one of the most complex technology development projects undertaken by Clemson University on behalf of the State of South Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS). This project is a multi-year effort to replace the State’s Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) with a multi-tier application environment that requires modern technologies, technical practices and substantial collaboration with a variety of stakeholders. *DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:* The Senior Oracle DBA is responsible for working closely with both the project development team (scrum/sprint teams) and with the Clemson Oracle Administrators to provide Senior Oracle DBA support for the implementation of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) application solutions with potential customization. The Senior Oracle DBA will be responsible for providing leadership in the implementation of the data model and preparing the solution for operations. Duties include: • Advising development and product teams on best approaches for required data model extensions and/or changes. • Hands-on Oracle development in a manner consistent with the selected COTS framework and Oracle best practices. • Collaboration with Clemson’s Oracle administration team to maintain test, staging, production databases and the development of operations procedures for database management. • Assisting with development and execution of a data migration plan from the existing Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) systems (custom built mainframe application with IDMS datastore). • Coordinating with outside entities, including vendors for other systems/services, providers, professional associations, and other State agencies. • 24/7 on call support on a rotating schedule. • Other duties as assigned. *REQUIRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):* The Senior Oracle DBA role has four major attributes: software development leadership, project management skills, people skills, and domain knowledge in enterprise class multi-tier web-based application development projects. Candidates must display excellence in all areas. • Proven Oracle DBA experience in managing and supporting enterprise applications in a Unix/Linux environment, preferably Redhat Enterprise Linux. • Experience with Oracle RAC • Experience with Oracle RMAN • Experience with Oracle Data Guard • Demonstrated success in supporting a development team implementing primarily web-based solutions using Oracle as the database. • Understanding of IT development and implementation projects. • Understanding of database scalability and operations. • Project planning experience, including effort estimation on technical tasks and resource allocation. • Strong written and oral communications skills, including the ability to give presentations to project management. • Impeccable integrity. Candidates must be confident with their abilities to make correct decisions and the courage to speak out when necessary. • Willingness and ability to effectively engage with people and organizations on a continuous basis PREFERRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE): • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate • Healthcare industry experience and/or experience managing PHI/PII data • Vendor management experience. • Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) experience. • Medicaid eligibility system/business operations experience. • Medicaid operations experience. • Public sector experience is a plus. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in a technical, business, or field. Masters degree is desirable. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: None required. Oracle training/certification from a recognized source is beneficial.
