MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN HP Proliant and Blade servers

 This is a 6 to 12 month contract in *white plains,NY*

*Major Purpose of Job:*
Prior to performing upgrades, our client wants a contractor to perform the
following tasks: assess the heath of the server hardware and OS, develop a
fallback plan if upgrade is not possible and schedule and ensure that full
backup of the server is successfully completed prior to perform upgrade.

Subsequent to the above, the contractor will proceed to coordinate upgrade
with the server owner and ensure proper notification of server outage is
send out by the ICS Lead or Manager.

Additionally, the contractor will configure an *HP Proliant and Blade
BLc7000 Chassis and BL460c Blade servers* contained therein, including
Mezzanine cards (HP telephone support is available if it is necessary to
work with HP on server setup) and deploy new Windows OS if necessary to
both physical and VMWare virtual servers

The work hours required in order to complete the above tasks may demand a
certain amount of after-hours time in order to achieve the specified goals.

*Scope of Work*
1. Assess all of the physical and virtual *VMWare windows 2003 servers*:
2. Work with the Lead and ICS Manager to schedule, coordinate, notify and
perform Windows 2003 servers upgrades
3. Work with the Lead to develop the order of priority for servers for
which it has been determined will have their OS upgrade.
4. Work with the Lead and server Owners to schedule server upgrades. This
task must be performed after normal working hours, i.e., after 4:30pm for
some servers and after 6:30pm for most servers.
a. an existing Change Management process, which must be followed. The
Contractor will fill out Change Management forms, seek appropriate approval
to proceed and attend the weekly Change Management meetings as required.
b. application servers typically have a *server owner* and/or a Database
Manager (DBA), which must be consulted in order to arrange an appropriate
time to schedule an outage in order to perform the upgrade process.
c. Ensure full backup is successfully completed before upgrade
d. Develop fallback plan to ensure server will immediately go back to
production in the event of any failure during the upgrade.
5. Configure and deploy windows 2012 to *HP Proliant, HP Blade and VMWare
servers.*

*Infrastructure Overview:*

client Currently, has approximately 154 physical servers running Microsoft
Windows 2003 Operating Systems as follows: Standard Edition; Enterprise
Edition;R2; 32-bit; 64-bit. Server hardware farm consists entirely of
various models of Hewlett Packard (HP) Proliant rack-mounted servers and
Blade c7000 servers and which are of various generations and VMWare virtual
servers. Microsoft Corporation is ending support of Windows 2003 OS by the
end of April 2015 and our client needs to upgrade these servers to Windows
2008 OS or in some cases replace them by new Windows 2012 before the end of
February 2015. Additionally, there is a requirement to rack and build new
physical servers as well as VMWare Virtual servers to replace servers we
cannot upgrade.
