*Job Description – Senior SAN Engineer*

10+ years of experience on SAN administration support for large scale
complex UNIX, Windows and VMware environments. The SAN engineer must be
able to design a SAN that will host several systems’ data separately and
allow access for multiple clients to access, retrieve and manipulate data
stored on the SAN. Additionally the candidate must be familiar with
database read, write and retrieval; virtualization, switch technology, bus
speeds and backplane interfaces. The candidate must have a strong knowledge
in Netbackup and backup solutions would be an added advantage.

*Responsibilities:*

   - · Responsible for testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SAN
   hardware and software across the Unix, Windows, Sun and VMware operating
   systems.
   - · Responsible for insuring the correct installation, setup, security,
   operation and maintenance of various SAN devices which includes USPVM,
   HUS150, AMS2500, HUSVM and AMS1000.
   - · Need to have Red hat 5 and  Solaris 10 systems administration
   knowledge
   - · Experience with  VERITAS Cluster Server, VERITAS Storage foundation
   and other High Availability techniques in the UNIX environment
   - · Have knowledge on SAN based environment and ability to allocate LUNS
   and create file systems
   - · Have knowledge and experience  on  VERITAS NetBackup products and
   solutions
   - · Provide full lifecycle storage area network (SAN) administration,
   architecture, and support including storage utilizations/capacity planning
   and adjusting storage requirements.
   - · Responsible for the installation, setup, technical operation and
   system administration of enterprise storage and backup systems.
   - · Performs data migration tasks from direct attached storage and
   within SAN environments.
   - · Responsible for all designs modifications and changes to the SAN
   infrastructure and ensure proper change control is followed for
   implementation and documentation of all configuration changes.
   - · Performs daily enterprise storage area networks activities including
   management, zoning, and provisioning, troubleshooting, debugging and
   capacity monitoring.
   - · Provide proactive monitoring and analysis and provide status
   reporting on availability, performance, and capacity utilization. Develop
   plans & recommendations to proactively address performance and capacity
   issues.
   - · Uses storage management tools to discover, monitor, provision and
   report on the storage infrastructure. Participates in root cause analysis
   for significant problems and suggests clear recommendations for
   improvements.
   - · Builds partnerships with project teams and works closely with
   internal and external customers and vendors to provide detailed analysis
   and trending of storage usage, ensuring that support expectations are
   maintained/exceeded including planning of new or upgraded SAN and storage
   equipment.
   - · Identify opportunities for automation and streamlining of system
   administration tasks.
   - · Evaluates new technologies and architecting solutions.
   - · Investigate new technologies, tools and methodologies to improve
   system stability and reliability, and advance systems administration
   procedures across all teams.
   - · Collaborate with infrastructure teams to defining and improving
   procedures in the areas of Disaster Recovery, Enterprise Backups, Systems
   Management, Monitoring and Systems Administration/Security, Build Standards
   and Server Build Automation.
   - · Participation in an on call rotation, which requires nights and
   weekend work as necessary.
   - · Participates with the client in the strategic design process to
   translate business requirements into technical designs that meet the
   operational requirements.
   - · Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals
   to meet outlined objectives. Work is reviewed by management to measure
   meeting objectives and schedules. May provide guidance to others to achieve
   goals in accordance with established policies. Works on problems of broad
   scope where analysis of data requires an evaluation of various factors.
   Exercises independent judgment within defined practices and policies in
   selecting methods, techniques and criteria for obtaining results.
   - · Ensures project schedules, and performance requirements are met.
   - · Contributes to the development of the organization's goals and
   objectives. Decisions or failure to achieve results may cause delays in
   schedules. Frequently interacts with customers and functional peer groups.
   Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others,
   oversee production, and maintain work schedules.
   - · Having knowledge and experience, able to handle seldom and unusual
   occurring job events. May determine methods and procedures on new
   assignments and provide guidance to non-exempt personnel. Knowledge of
   assigned product(s), company functions, service policies and procedures and
   good communication skills.

 *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*

   - · Hands-on experience and expertise designing and administering
   Storage solutions running business critical solutions
   - · Hands on experience and expertise in managing USPVM, HUS150,
   AMS2500, HUSVM and AMS1000 devices.
   - · Hands-on experience with Cisco Switches in regards to basic
   configuration
   - · Understanding of LACP & NIC Bonding, VLANs, sub-netting
   - · Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
   - · Excellent analytical and organizational skills and attention to
   detail.
   - · Understanding of Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS, FCoE, NDMP
   - · Hands-on experience in COW technology and snapshots
   - · Fundamental knowledge and experience with Brocade FC switches, and
   Cisco FCoE design
   - · Experience in preparing reports, presentations and documentation.
   - · The ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping priorities
   and concurrent customer commitments
   - · The adaptability to effectively deliver against varying expectations
   across all IT Systems.
   - · Ability to verbally translate and articulate complex technical
   issues for the advocacy of non-technical users.
   - · Fundamental understanding of VMware networking and administration
   - · Proficiency with Solaris and RedHat Linux (desired)
