data modeling. They are currently on version 7.3 but are moving to 9.6
eventually.*
Healthcare and/or Insurance are *highly* preferred. They'd really like
someone who understands what a claim is, adjustments, etc.... Doesn't
necessarily need to be Healthcare however.
*Job Purpose*
The Data Modeler will maintain and enhance data models for the BTS Data
Warehouse team. This position will work closely with Informatics and
business area teams to understand business needs and to translate the
specific requirements into appropriate database designs. The Data Modeler
will ensure that the data model designs leverage the current software
utilized by the Informatics division and that all models created conform to
the strategic goals of the Informatics division. This position reports to
the Informatics Data Architect.
*Job Description*
- Maintain data models in Erwin data modeling software, according to
Informatics guidelines
- Develop database design solutions, which meet both business and
technical requirements
- Work with Informatics and business area teams to gain a solid
understanding of the IBC business rules and systems that are data sources
for the data model
- Complete data profiling and technical analysis as appropriate to
develop design solutions
- Conduct and participate in data model review to validate data model
conformance to customer and systems requirements
- Work with Application Architects and Database Administrators to define
the physical data model
- Ensure data modeling deliverables conform to data modeling standards
- Develop physical data models appropriate for the application (e.g. 3NF
and dimensional/star schema designs.)
- Coordinate implementation of physical data model with DBA team,
including generation of DDL and participation in technical design
discussions
- Support application testing and production implementation as required
- Support integration of models and ensure definitions are consistent
across the enterprise for shareability and reusability
*Experience*
- 5+ years of proven experience in data modeling, data management, data
warehousing, data transformation, metadata and reference data management
- Skilled in managing data models in Erwin & Model mart
- Solid understanding of the following is required:
- Relational model design, dimensional modeling, and ETL processes
· Data warehousing, including both Inmon and Kimball methodologies
· Business Intelligence tools and concepts
· Adhere to enterprise data architecture policies and standards
