Software QA Analyst - Contract *POSITION SUMMARY and PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES* Under general supervision, evaluates and tests new/modified internally developed and commercial off the shelf (COTS) software programs. Testing includes providing documentation, diagrams, and data flow charts, to ensure freedom from defects and to verify that programs function according to end-user requirements and conform to organizational standards. Works with business analysts to evaluate software development procedures and recommends program improvements or corrections to ensure adherence to Internal Audit and SOX compliance. Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to attain quality of software economically and efficiently. Documents and works to resolve all complex problems. Reports progress on problem resolution to management. Devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations. Acts as an information resource about assigned areas for other Quality Assurance Analysts/Engineers. Actively participates in requirements and design review meetings. Develops comprehensive test plans from functional requirements and design specifications for medium to large scale projects. Develops manual and/or service-oriented architecture (SOA) test cases in black/grey box environments that can be transitioned to automated scripts. Executes both manual and automated functional/regression and system test cases. Documents, troubleshoots and isolates problems encountered during testing. Creates test data for applications as needed. Documents test execution results in HP Quality Center. In conjunction with Software QA Engineers, responsible for analyzing use cases and test scenarios in order to make the appropriate determination whether the functionality is an ideal candidate for automation. Assumes other responsibilities as directed. *REQUIRED SKILLS* *Successful completion of a 4-year degree in a computer or engineering related field and at least 4 years of experience testing commercial software; or equivalent combination of education and experience.* Prior experience in insurance industry. *Requires experience with defect tracking applications, such as HP Quality Center, JIRA, Bugzilla.* Requires strong Commercial Software troubleshooting experience, and strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and Software Quality Assurance methodology.
