*PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- This person will provide the vision for this effort as well as lead
other support personnel to achieve the project goals.
- Duties will be far and wide to include: alerting and automation,
scripting, mentoring team members, performance troubleshooting, etc.
- Requires equal use of database, Unix, SAN, scripting, performance and
tuning, automation, alerting and Tools skills.
- Contributes to overall technical direction for 24x7, 20 person
Application Support team.
- Interfaces with executive management and development architects to
ensure the production environment moves forward along the lines required.
- Solving all issues with the system: alerts, space, cpu usage,
failed/aborting jobs, performance issues, initial code troubleshooting),
limited batch jobs,
Includes 24x7 rotation.
- May do some code troubleshooting, but that’s just as true from a
database, SAN and Unix environment stand point as well.
- Supporting mission-critical applications is a requirement.
*REQUIRED SKILLS:*
- 8+ years of experience in production support or a related area.
- Strong database experience with Unix (Solaris), Linux & Oracle.
- Demonstrated achievements in systems alerting and automation scripting
with Python***Perl or Shell is also acceptable.***
- Demonstrated high achievement in making large systems work.
- Lots of common sense (putting the dots together).
- Strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Must have a high level of critical thinking.
- Demonstrated experience in managing/administrating WebSphere
Application Server (WAS).
- Experience with Subversion.
- A technical bachelor's degree is REQUIRED.
