*Detail Job Description:*
The Senior Database Administrator position is responsible for the design,
setup, and management of large complex databases that are located on
multiple servers in a diverse hardware environment across geographically
separate data centers.
The Senior Database Administrator also is responsible for the maintenance
of databases, which includes but is not limited to: production support,
security and auditing, performance turning, backup and recovery, data
replication, DR testing and documentation.
*Position responsibilities*:
• Provide 24x7 support to production and critical project including
participating in a weekly on call rotation.
*• Management of Oracle software versions, installations, upgrades and
patch installations across all production and non-production environments. *
*• Provide database management and support for Oracle Enterprise 11g/12c
environments, including setup, configuration, deployment, backup/restore,
monitoring, alerting, auditing and security. *
*• Responsible for the development and implementation of preventative
maintenance routines to ensure availability* and performance of database
files and their related management systems.
• Monitoring of database server performance, making and implementing tuning
recommendations, capacity planning, database security and data integrity
including backup/recovery with RMAN and other tools, export/import etc.
• Support enterprise capacity and performance planning efforts, capacity
planning, maintaining and auditing security roles, cloning systems to
development environments, patch management.
• Provide internal consulting to internal customers’ complex
database-related issues, systems, and implementation projects.
• Refresh development and test databases with production data as requested
• Enforce user access control based on the company compliance policy.
Provide weekly, quarterly and adhoc audit reports to Information Security
Officers.
• Ensure proper security of all databases and their respective database
management systems within the corporation including maintaining and
auditing security roles, auditing security and account management
functions.
• Perform periodic database backup restore and DR test exercises.
• Responsible for the development of documentation to perform tasks listed
above.
*Supervisory Responsibilities:*
• There are no supervisory responsibilities.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
*• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. A combination of
education, technical training/certification, and relevant experience that
is equivalent to 10 years overall working experience will be considered in
lieu of an undergraduate degree. *
*• Requires 5-10 years’ experience in information technology, with at least
7 years’ experience managing Oracle* databases
*Requirements and General Skills: *
*• Technical Skills*
*o Must be hands-on, technically adept DBA, capable of performing required
DB tasks. *
*o Deep knowledge with Oracle 11gR2 databases, strong RAC clustering
experience, RMAN, and Data Guard experience required. *
*o Must demonstrate proficiency in Linux and be able to administer Oracle
databases running in RHEL.*
o Strong troubleshooting/performance tuning skills required. Must be able
improve SQL performance results through use of hints or outlines. Ability
to diagnose problems and triage/resolve issues across various tiers
(application, network, database, server, or storage tiers).
o Ability to implement automation to reduce manual administrative tasks
through use of jobs, shell scripts, PL/SQL, cron, or other techniques.
o Preference towards candidates with Oracle Enterprise Pack experience –
Golden Gate, Database Vault, Audit Vault, AES Security/Encryption.
o Knowledge of the Oracle BRM is a plus.
