The first message shows that ispell is correctly loaded, so this is rather a good news. > ispell-command-loop: Text is read-only Yes, you met the same issue which was described in my last mail. At the moment, I do not know the cause of this error message. Nevertheless, when M-x ispell-word was typed again the list of possible words was displayed. So once this issue happens, tries again M-x ispell-word; for example, a shorter way to recall this command is: M-x and then M-p to retrieve the previous command.
