Ok all of you on the list who have been using emacspeak as your desktop. I have a little bug fix for you.
If you have been having problems decoding mail messages with any or all parts sent encoded in base64, the fix is simple. I remember one of you said that you could not fully change over to Linux until this could be fixed because you have colleagues send you messages with base64-encoded attachments. The fix is this. apt-get install mime-codecs This will install a set of programs that will allow your system to encode and decode those messages with no problem whatsoever. This will allow whoever that was who told me he could not switch totally over to Linux until this could be fixed, to rest assured that Linux always provides the fix.
