What is the proper device name for recording sound? /dev/dsp
doesn't work at all for me, though I have all the mic settings and
everything as high as they'll go on both alsamixer and aumix. I've tried
it with sound-recorder and ecasound, to no avail. With arecord, I kill it
with ctrl-c when I'm done and there's nothing in the file when I play it.
So how can I record and actually get results? There's a number of things
I'd really like to be able to record.
