The examples portal already works with portlets: the "Run Example", "View Description" and "View Source" portlets (see portlet.xml). The idea would be to either take one of those portlets, or create a new portlet for testing with Pluto.
Fixing this makes a lot of sense for Presentation Server, which has the ambition of being used more and more as a front-end in integration solutions, where JSR-168 portals are of course going to be used increasingly (think "Composite Applications").
