I was puzzled as well! Then I noticed that the "xforms" prefix in viewXF1.xsl is bound to http:/ www.w3.org/2002/xforms (notice the single "/" after "http:"). Change this to http://www.w3.org/2002/xforms and your code will just work fine.
As an unknown namespace was used on those elements, they where not considered as XForms elements and were just left untouched, and sent to the browser as is.
