Alex, Many thanks for the tip-off, the application works using the 'foreign-nodes' elements approach, but I still can't get it to work using the HTML namespace approach. If anyone else has successfully embedded the HTML namespace into their custom doctypes, please mail me!

So in your schema, you need to replace all your ref="gaga" by ref=" ljf:gaga".
