doc('oxf:instance') is now doc('input:instance'),
Starting with 2.6 or in the current CVS?
Starting with the current CVS which should produce a 2.7 soon (when stabilized). "oxf:" still works and will be kept for backward compatibility.
So yes it's normal. This said, you can always build a pipeline that fetches and saves instances and reuse it to your heart's content, by calling it from other pipelines.
Yes, but then am I right to say that you need to fetch the instance in the PFC to build the XForms model and to save it in either the pipeline for the model or the pipeline for the view or is there a single location where I could do both?
I am not too sure I understand. The instance is initially described (or referred to) by the XForms model, and it just contains default values. When a form is submitted, the instance is rebuilt, and this time it contains values entered by the user.
Can you describe a little better the flow of data and/or pages you are looking at?
