I think that having a presentation server global media-type.xml property file and a class to exploit it would help a lot and would provide consistency over the different processors.
We already have a file called mime-types.xml. We could move that to the config directory, rename it media-types.xml, and add a property (property.xml) that would be used by a class to return mappings.
The Resource server's mime-types input could then be made optional.
