I am philosophically aligned with Microsoft because I think it does a lot of
good in the world.

The world has too many beardy nerds who say everything should be free while
earning a living and shopping with
cash.

Besides those modules there are certainly others like a good shopping card
module for example. The Orchard ecosystem indeed doesn't need zillion of
plugins but somewhat more would be handy for sure.

You still haven't stated why you included the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation

The way I look at it.... the pitch for orchard should be something like.

'A great and cleanly designed cms, with microsoft technology, great for
learning c# coding backed by superb Microsoft programmers'... thats the pitch
to the tech community...

Pitch to user community would be something like....

'New, smooth, advanced cms with all the features you need in the modern
world'...

People do not really need a zillion modules, they just need to do a few things
like

-contact form
-facebook integration
-map integration
-video
-blog
-mailing list management

so, for coders, it is 'nice to use, work with, clean' , perhaps could be
plugged with video or something when people join
website spark ?

http://www.microsoft.com/web/websitespark/

The wordpress website is 100% marketing on the front page, orchard looks 100%
technie in development, really needs
just a little tweak there.

I would push it as 'wordpress that old thing, orchard the new better thing'.

Any thoughts on this ?

Hi,

Orchard CMS could for sure use a bit more awareness. In your mail I didn't
quite get the meaning of why things like the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation
and Ghandi were pushed in and how they relate to Orchard CMS. If you could
explain so please do.

Marketing is about AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action), how you're going
to make people aware of the existence of your product, make them interested in
it and ultimately going to use/purchase it. Orchard Harvest, and the uploaded
videos on youtube,
were a good form of such awareness creation. As a shameless plug I might state
that I also did so by giving a Microsoft (Belgium) live meeting last year about
it and a couple of weeks ago I had a presentation about Orchard in Milan, Italy.

The feedback I heard there from the local community is that Orchard is
interesting but that it lacks a great deal of interesting
modules/plugins/themes. WordPress already does have a rich ecosystem. Also it's
hard to make new modules compared with for
example Umbraco (never used that myself but I heard it from one of my
attendees who has made quite a lot of implementations with it for his company).

I have been coding since I was 14, I like to code a bit now, but I understand a
bit more about marketing as well.

My mentor is the ceo of a quoted firm, he says a balanced team is key, I would
be proud to be associated

with orchard microsoft, I say up with the bill and melinda foundation.

up with orchard, i have a team of people behind me as well, in coding,
marketing, publishing, film etc.

I see bill and melinda making the world a better place, I do not see this with
wordpress.
