Would it be feasible for a grower with a small collection (115 plants) to use
a product such as pH down (aquarium supply) to lower the pH of water? I have
used fertilizer at the rate that Mr. Pressman recommended and was unhappy with
the results. And one more question if I may? If nutrients are most available
to plants at a certain pH (I have read 6.5) and if a higher dose of fertilizer
lowers pH therefore making the nutrients available, how do we avoid over
fertilizing? (My results were poor in sphagnum moss, which I thought was
responsible for holding too much of the fertilizer)
I suspect that a basic chemistry course would answer this question, but if
there is any satisfactory way to answer this question in short it would be
greatly appreciated.
