I add lime chips to my paph potting mix and seem to get better results, however I would advise checking your water's ph level first.
Dr Braem and the Bakers advise in their books that lime should not be added to the mix of some species as it dissolves in cold water and may develop toxic levels of calcium in the medium.
I think that some forms of lime dissolve faster than others, but take caution and trial it on one plant for a while first.
Perhaps others can advise on recommended ph levels.
