Re: Susan Tragesser's annoyance with the recent rise in AOS dues, just wait
until the currently proposed additional hike to $60 for a single membership
(for one year, from last year's $40 to the current $46.50 to $60) takes place,
an increase of 50%, reportedly to start at the beginning of next year. Someone
has to pay for the headquarter's facility, and who else but the members? All
other attempts to increase revenues have been abject failures, and operating
expenses and staff have been cut to the bone. What do you and others propose be

For one, I'd propose selling the prime Florida real estate, and returning to the AOS roots, such as during the '70s and early '80s, before the AOS focussed on being a fund-raising group. All the grandiose gardens, offices, and so on are expensive frills, in my opinion, and of little benefit to the bulk of the members. Certainly of no benefit to me, that I can see.
