Here in Miami, I have the fortune/misfortune of having many orchids outside and exposed to the rains. Naturally, I have an especially difficult time with fungal and bacterial rots. I would appreciate some recommendations on fungicides/bactericides. My understanding is that Pythiums and Phytophthoras are "cool" season problems, being most active when temperatures are below 75 while Bacterial problems crop up in during Florida's warm wet season. QUESTION: Can anyone confirm/refute this? So... how necessary is it apply prophylactic fungicides, (e.g. Alliette or Truban), directed at Pythiums and Phytophthoras during the wet summer months? Conversely, how important is it to apply bactericides (e.g., Phyton 27), during the dry winter months. Thank you in advance.
