Ron, the AOC used to produce a yearly publication with a select sample of Awarded orchids. The people incharge believed that it was too costly to continue and include ALL of the awards. This was not the wishes of the delegates at an AOC meeting. I'm not sure what the AOC does with all the money they receive from awards etc and the Orchids Aust' magazine ( if it is making money ). The one thing that nearly every club and member in Australia asks is what do we get for our money. NOT MUCH. It was thought that no-one would buy the book of pics but with some decent forethought and by including all of the details of the flower, ie all flower dimensions as per the award, it would make an excellent reference guide for all judges and interested growers to know whether a plant before them is worthy of award consideration or atleast show bench potential. One day, the penny may drop to have someone do something positive and produce THE book. I believe that the it is probably too late now because of the Taiwan paph books ( I have book 2 & 3 ) plus the Awards Quarterly ( very expensive ) plus the possibility of new similar publications being released by o/seas orchid people to rival anything mentioned so far. We have the equal or better in quality orchids in Australia and we dont have the brains to promote them. ROY
