I don't know the answer to your question (though I suspect "yes"), but 
if you do make the cross, you should be aware that Eric Christenson 
considers the pink flowered H. rhodocheila to be a separate species, 
H. erichmichaelii.

I wonder whether RHS would permit you to register the cross as a hybrid grex?
