The worry over what Manuel will say in court is now a wasted bit of time. Some time ago Manuel (an old friend) was able to obtain a new passport, boarded a flight and took wing back to Peru...He was horribly mistreated here and you may make bet that he will never return. I met with him at the Houston Orchid Show while he was on bail and he looked as ill as I had heard..He has a history of all sorts of illness...His wife was being prepared for surgery back in Peru..and even with all that he was treated by his "captures" wretchedly...Constantly grilled and forced to make statements under the threat of never getting out of jail...All because he did or did not lable some plants wrong. This is the State of the art (pun intended) of our government at this point...Ratting on those around you is the only way to cop a plea now days and allow yourself to dodge horrendous punishment....Last I heard Norris had so many counts against him that he might not see light for years..most trumped up to get to enough counts to make him cough up any potential names for further arrests...You can see why I immediately dropped my import permits when CITES came into effect. What hath it wrought when Fish and Wildlife have now become synonomous with the drug inforcement people.???
