There is no Florigen, the flowering process from studies done in the 60's and 70's was show to be a very complex process involving multiple processes in the plant. No single hormone was ever found to control the process, rather it involved multiple systems reacting to multiple stimuli to bring on flowering. The last I looked at the research there was no definitive answer to the question of what stimulates or prevents plants from flowering. Rather there are lots of different plants that react to different stimuli multiple ways that all produce flowers. Just about every stimuli that influences the growth of plants can cause or prevent flowering in some plant, long nights, short nights, heat, cold, age, various plant growth regulators (phytohormones), etc have all been shown to have influences in one plant or another.

If you want to do some reading go out to one of the search engines and enter inducing flowering, you will find several thousand pages. There are also some good references you can find for basic books on plant physiology that might answer your question faster.

I spent 20 years as a plant physiologist and gave up test tubes for computers about 18 years ago.

Has the search for the flowering hormone Florigen been totally discredited? In looking around the web it didn't appear that much credence was given to it anymore.
